Omondi’s struggle wasn’t just about land; it was about dignity and respect. In many parts of rural Uganda, traditional norms often overlook the inheritance rights of persons with disabilities. When Omondi was excluded, however, he didn’t retreat.
JHF Uganda’s rapid response legal team mobilized within 48 hours. We didn’t just file papers; we engaged community elders, leveraged the Persons with Disabilities Act, and stood with Omondi for 14 grueling months.
The Impact
Omondi now manages his ancestral lands, providing a home for his siblings and proving that Justice, though delayed, is non-negotiable.
